EFT is sometimes called "acupuncture without
needles" and generates it's results by balancing the body's
energy meridians while the child "tunes in" to their
problem in a gentle, conversational manner while simultaneously
tapping on key points on the body.
A simple way to explain how EFT works is to use
the analogy of a circuit breaker in your kitchen. Once the circuit
is over-powered you cannot turn the lights on or get the refrigerator
to cool until the circuit breaker has been reset. EFT resets the
circuits of a person's mind and body.
Why is EFT great for
Children?
Children and teens respond beautifully to
EFT. It's simple, it's gentle, and it's lots of fun!
Kids love to know and learn something they
can do for themselves in a world that can sometimes feel
overwhelming. Our childhood experiences are written on our
emotional walls and depending on their quality, become either
"stop signs" or "green lights" as we
move through life. EFT can help kids experience the "green
lights" of their wondrous nature.
What to Expect
Each child is unique therefore each course of treatment
is individualized. Some issues are resolved in a single session,
others have multiple aspects and require more time. Most appointments
are kept to an hour or less to adapt to a child's natural attention
span.
In addition to working with your child, I encourage
parents to experience a separate session to learn the technique
as well. Not only is doing EFT a wonderful way to connect with
your child, but is effective in dealing with your own upsets about
your child's experience and anxieties. This can allow us to live
in a much calmer and more responsive way, responding to the children
rather than to our own concerns.
Occasionally I will combine EFT with recommended
dietary suggestions, restrictions and lifestyle tips for increased
effectiveness.
